OOU Islamic Center Turns World Class
Truly a dream of yesterday will be the Reality today !. It is an uncommon privilege for the entire Muslim community of Olabisi Onabanjo University to have a very befitting edifice as their house of Woship, as As-Sujood Mosque was commissioned at the Islamic Centre Olabisi Onabanjo University main Campus on the 2nd of September, 2022 making the School's Islamic Centre turns World Class.
An encomium of praise was bestowed on the Donor; Hajia Tamramat Mosun Belo-Olusoga, the immediate past Pro-Chancellor who fulfilled her promise within the specified time proposed for the project. This is one of the many giant strides recorded during her tenure. May Allah accept it as an act of Ibadah and grant her eternal reward.
In his welcome Address at the occasion, Prof. Mikhail Lasun Gbadamosi, the Chairman of the Occasion, as well as the Chairman of the Executive Council of the O0U Muslim Community; He thankfully appreciate the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ganiyu Olatunde, for his timely facilitation of the project. And to everyone who contributed in one way or the other for the successful completion the Mosque.
He said in his Address: " I want to express our gratitude to Prof. Saburi Adesanya, our immediate past Vice-Chancellor who fast-tracked our movement to the permanent site of the Islamic Centre. I also want to
acknowledge our pioneer Chief Imam, Emeritus Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, Senator Sefiu Kaka, Late Oba Sansi, Major-General S.A. Awosanya Rtd., Alhaji Safiriyu Araba, past executives and others for their prominent roles in envisioning and developing an Islamic Centre for our university."
On the same note, He solicited support towards the actualisation of some other facilities that were envisioned to be in the OOU Islamic Centre; The construction of Administrative Block, the construction of Hostels for Muslim Students, Provision of buses for the activities of the Muslim Community and MSSN-OOU Branch, Construction of a befitting Multi-purpose Hall and Modrasah, construction of spacious car park, and construction of befitting Mosques at Ayetoro and Ibogun Campuses.
The first Friday sermon was delivered by Shaykh Abdur Rahman Olanrewaju Ahmad, the National Chief Missioner and Imam of Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria. He so much emphasised on striving to the cause of Allah, especially by building Mosques for His sake and hoping for the reward from Him alone. He also adviced the Muslim Students' of Olabisi Onabanjo University to make good use of the Mosque by bringing Madrasah and Tahfeez classes to the Mosque.
The just commissioned As-Sujood Mosque is a well deserving place to make Prostration of sincere submission to Almighty Allah (As-Sujood) Because of what the name implies. It is a spacious Mosque that would accommodate over 1500 congregation of both Muslim Faithfuls.
It has a serene environment, spacious Car park and a far reaching sharp Public Address System.
We cannot mention but few. We pray Allah make this Islamic Centre one that will be reckon with throughout the whole world and accept As-Sujood Mosque as an act of Ibadah for the Donor.
